Celebrate "The Killers" at The Cat's Cradle in Toronto's Corso Italia

Updated: Jun 4

A Night to Remember

We recently celebrated our second tribute night to "The Killers" right here in Toronto's Corso Italia neighbourhood. It was an all-night audio and video extravaganza! The atmosphere was electric, and I can't wait to share all the highlights with you.

Surprise guests, "the Overkillers," dropped by to promote and donate two pairs of tickets for our big May 2 Revival Show. They added an extra layer of excitement to the night, and fans loved hanging out with them. Everyone snapped photos and shared laughs while paying tribute to the actual band, "The Killers."

The Atmosphere

As we do with all our fantastic tribute events, every TV was tuned to "The Killers" music videos. The bar was aglow with neon lights, creating a vibrant backdrop for the night. The greatest hits blasted from our sound system, and fans mingled, soaking in the immersive atmosphere. It felt like we were all part of something special.

Who Are The Killers?

The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001. The band was founded by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). After a few changes in the lineup, Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) joined in 2002.

The Killers have released seven studio albums, each of which topped the UK Albums Chart. Their albums include Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Mirage (2020), and Pressure Machine (2021). They also have a B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust (2007), a live album, Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009), two greatest-hits albums, Direct Hits (2013) and Rebel Diamonds (2023), and a Christmas compilation, Don't Waste Your Wishes (2016).

The Band's Journey

Since 2016 and 2017, Stoermer and Keuning have taken extended breaks from the band. Stoermer mostly retired from touring due to exhaustion and lingering effects from a pyrotechnics accident. Meanwhile, Keuning released a solo album. Despite these breaks, Stoermer participated in recording sessions for Wonderful Wonderful and Imploding the Mirage. It was also announced that Keuning contributed to the recording of Pressure Machine, released in 2021.

During this time, Ted Sablay, who had been a touring keyboardist and rhythm guitarist since 2006, took over lead guitar duties for live shows in Keuning's absence. Touring rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Jake Blanton stepped in as bassist for live performances. With Sablay moving to lead guitar, the band brought in Taylor Milne and Robbie Connolly to handle rhythm guitar and keyboards, respectively.

The Killers' Impact

The Killers are considered one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century. They've sold over 28 million records worldwide, including 10.8 million in the U.S. They've performed in over 50 countries and on six continents, headlining iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium. They've also graced stages at major festivals, including Glastonbury Festival in 2007 and 2019, and Electric Picnic in Ireland in 2023.
