The Cat's Cradle runs donations to cat rescue

Since opening on July 1, 2019, The Cat's Cradle has been committed to hosting charity events and food drives.

The two owners, Barbara and Mario, being cat enthusiasts themselves, have adopted six cats from the streets.

Barbara has personally supported "The North Toronto Cat Rescue" on multiple occasions, including visits, promotional efforts, and organizing a GoFundMe campaign that raised over twenty-six thousand dollars in donations.

About

North Toronto Cat Rescue (NTCR) is a volunteer-operated, non-profit registered charity dedicated to the well-being of cats. We rescue homeless cats and kittens, offer them veterinary care, and support them through recovery until they are adopted.

They provide cats and kittens for adoption in Toronto (GTA), Markham, Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, and the South York Region.

While most rescue organizations in our region utilize foster homes to accommodate rescued animals, NTCR stands out because NTCR cats reside in the NTCR shelter.

As a no-kill facility, their kitties remain with us until they find their forever homes. This process can take time because they often arrive in conditions that are not immediately "adoptable." Through dedicated effort, immense patience, and plenty of love and compassion, our volunteers help these cats become "respectable" pets.

Many of the cats have been forced out of their homes or are offspring of those who were evicted. They come after enduring different levels of hardship, whether from neglectful and abusive owners or from struggling to survive on their own in the harsh street environment. There, they face hunger, frostbite, injuries—often fatal—and even poisoning by people who see them as nothing more than nuisances.

NTCR stands out from other shelters due to its unique approach. Their no-cage policy allows cats to roam and play freely, giving them the chance to learn to interact well with both humans and other animals. This setup helps them experience a lifestyle similar to what they will have when they find their permanent homes. Our cats live in compatible groups, with each group having its own dedicated room in the shelter.
